New NFL team logos for 2013-2014

25 Flares 25 Flares ×
The Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins have announced their new team logos. A few other teams should be unveiling their updated branding soon as well (like the Miami Dolphins).

On the one hand I feel like one team did a great job not only cleaning up their logo, but making it more practical- while the other degraded. All new logos are shown to the left.

Vikings enhance the Norseman

There are really five subtle enhancements to the Norseman. The shape of the horns has been adjusted and the shading in the horns has changed. The base of the horn now resembles the horn on the players’ helmets. Thicker lines have been added to the mustache and face. The Vikings Gold is now brighter and less brassy. The braid has been shortened, resulting in a reduced logo height.

I think the updated Norseman still looks great, but after reading through their justifications respect that they’ve made him easier to utilize. I love that they’re paying attention to the details like the horns on the helmets.

The Jag’s new logo sucks

I’m not gonna talk too much crap about the redesign, but I think It looks even worse than the (now) old logo. At least the old one was clean and more on the abstract side, this makes the team feel like a high school team. I get the concept, but how does a “realistic” Jaguar have a teal tongue? I do think the typography is an improvement though, even though It should probably leverage that team teal more.

“Wow, that looks great!”

Miami Dolphins get a new logo

This supposedly new Miami Dolphins logo was leaked a few months ago, however there have been other drastically different leaks as well and as of March 26th has been confirmed to be the new team logo. Anything will be an improvement over their current logo though. Since they’re doing a logo redesign, maybe they’ll consider changing their theme song as well. Fins up!

I’ll Be Updating This PostLast updated March 27th, 2013. As we get closer to the 2013/2014 football season I’m sure there will be more exciting news regarding team branding. Instead of creating new posts, I’ll just be updating this one to save space.

WOW @ that Jaguars redesign…..maybe the blue tongue is because the cat is CHOKING….great point on how it looks more like a high school logo…

Ha, I know right. Hopefully their 2013-2014 draft picks will be more impressive than their choice in branding.

Hi, just wanted to tell you, I enjoyed this blog post. It was funny. Keep on posting!

Hope the Vikes didn’t pay a lot for that “new” logo. New Jags logo might as well be a photo. The cat’s flat head makes him look dumb and afraid. So many other teams need a fresh look … w/o falling back on the all-black uni look. So played out and NOT intimidating.

Seriously man, coulda taken a photo and photoshop’d the tongue teal lol.

Lemme guess… The fins used the same artsy-fartsy designer that did the new Marlins logo? Their change was bad enough, but this new logo is HORRIBLE!

The Dolphin’s previous logo was a serious improvement over the first original logo.. It was made cleaner, bolder and even tougher… this new logo however is NOT an improvement at all… it is only an embarrassment to anyone wearing it!!

I for one will purchase no new merchandise wearing this “Cruise Line” or “Children’s Apparel” logo…

Way to go Dolphin’s management… you try to fix what isn’t broken (and fail miserably) but you continue to ignore what truly needs to be fixed for the Dolphins to once again become a competitive NFL team.

This logo change should not have been a consideration ESPECIALLY without fan input and support!

I have been a Fins-Fan since the first game I watched with my dad when I was 6 years old in 1971 and proudly said so no matter how they played… win or lose… but now? I really doubt my loyalty is any longer wanted or even deserved…
